EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Join FAIR for a screening of the new documentary film Better Left Unsaid (90 minutes) followed by a Q&A with producer Desh Amila and writer and director Curt Jaimungal, with host Melissa Chen.

From the producer of Islam and The Future of Tolerance (2018) comes a thought-provoking, balanced and well-researched independent documentary film with the courage to examine many of the current hot-button issues in American society.

As liberal democracy becomes increasingly challenged in the West, Better Left Unsaid offers an in-depth analysis of the often violent extremism plaguing today’s Western political landscape. The film exposes both the philosophical underpinnings and the dangerous tactics of the radical left and the far right.

In a world where political polarization frames the way in which we live, the film suggests that a new path forward of unity is needed more than ever before. The film features a politically diverse cast, with interviews of many public intellectuals including Steven Pinker, Noam Chomsky, David Sloan Wilson, Ilana Redstone, Michael Shermer, Coleman Hughes, Janice Fiamengo, Jonathan Pageau, and John Vervaeke. Despite their differences, they ultimately agree that we need to return to the Enlightenment values of reason, science, and civil discourse.
