Its awesome (as a newbie to the group) to hear about whats going in the Robotics club sector in Philly.
I am amateur robotics and have been playing with them for some time. And actually have just started to build some of them myself for applications in 3D printing, consumer based automation and robotics.
It would be awesome to part of the annual autonomous robotics! I think it would be great way to challenge people of all different backgrounds, design, engineering, art, business, etc. to get together and do something fun for the community.
Something I thought might be cool if we can build an autonomous robot for
5) Scientific and Engineering Applications for teachingMy ideas are crazy and I would be happy to share more, when the time comes.
Let me know.
Thanks and good weekend!

NextFab will be having a Show & Tell event this weekend where people will be sharing their projects. The emphasis is on robotics, and is open to the public. See here for details: http://nextfabstudio.com/about/events/2013/06/29/show-tell-2. Our group has also been invited to participate. If you have anything you'd like to show, email [address removed].
NextFab also has a robotics club for their members that is just getting started. They meet twice a week and are currently working on adding sensing and embedded control to an OWI535 robot arm. If there is sufficient interest, we can hold a joint meetup in the future. We could also get a tour of their facilities (note for our newer members, the Meetup had a private tour of their old location on Market St, but not the new location on Washington St). Let me know if you want to do either (or both) of those things.
Finally, the NextFab folks are planning to have an annual autonomous robotics competition, with options/categories for a variety of ages and skill levels. The focus is on practical ways of improving the city and our community. let me know if you have any interest in, or ideas for, competing or helping set up the competition.
