• This is a long standing hiking club in the greater Philadelphia area since 1931. We are primarily a mature, friendly club, but certainly all ages are welcome. Please note that if you join us on a hike, you will be required to sign a waiver and abide by our hiking club guidelines. You are expected to   follow the leader and remain with the group throughout the hike. The leaders work hard to scout and plan their hike and want everyone to enjoy it.  Each hike description includes a numerical classification as to the difficulty so that individuals can select hikes which match their abilities. Level classifications are listed on our website, You can also contact the leaders if you have questions about the details or level of difficulty of the hike.

If you find that you like us and the kind of hiking we do, please consider becoming a member of PTC for only $10 a year! (This means beyond being a member of our Meet Up site).

If you decide to become a member........PTC members all take turns leading hikes each Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. This is an involved and committed organization where everyone participates!  We also plan bike hikes! Hikes are usually held within easy driving distance of Philadelphia, with occasional hikes further afield--in the Poconos, the New Jersey Pine Barrens and Maryland. Since its founding, the Club has also sponsored more extensive excursions to Switzerland, England and Scotland among other destinations. Most hikes range from 5 to 10 miles in distance and from very easy to strenuous. The club also  supports local and regional preservation organizations working towards creating and sustaining open space by awarding small grants.
