This is a long standing hiking club in the greater Philadelphia area since 1931. We are primarily a mature, friendly club, but certainly all ages are welcome. Please note that if you join us on a hike, you will be required to sign a waiver and abide by our hiking club guidelines. You are expected to follow the leader and remain with the group throughout the hike. The leaders work hard to scout and plan their hike and want everyone to enjoy it. Each hike description includes a numerical classification as to the difficulty so that individuals can select hikes which match their abilities. Level classifications are listed on our website, Philadelphiatrailclub.org. You can also contact the leaders if you have questions about the details or level of difficulty of the hike.
If you find that you like us and the kind of hiking we do, please consider becoming a member of PTC for only $10 a year! (This means beyond being a member of our Meet Up site). Dues support club operations (Club website, P.O. Box, MeetUp site and other club expenses).
If you decide to become a member........You will have access to all of our club hikes and activities (not all hikes are listed on MeetUp). We do bike hikes. Members are also eligible to participate in domestic and international hiking ventures. Past excursions include, England, Croatia, Scotland, Iceland, Maine and Virginia.
As PTC members gain experience, they are asked to lead hikes on weekends throughout the year. Hikes are held within easy driving distance of Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.
This is an involved and committed organization where everyone participates!
The club also supports local and regional preservation organizations working towards creating and sustaining open space by awarding small grants from our Memorial Fund.
