Designing Delight for Undelightful Experiences
Details
Having designed experiences in healthcare and higher education, I repeatedly heard, “These aren’t the times to think about delight!” While the journey of going through cancer treatment or figuring out student loans isn’t inherently delightful, the interaction users have with product and solutions can be.
This talk will discuss why designing for delight is crucial in undelightful experiences and case studies. The audience will also leave with a framework to describe delight and immediately apply it to any project.
Speaker Bio:
Auldyn Matthews loves connecting seemingly unrelated ideas to fuel innovative products and solutions in social impact fields. Currently, she’s the UX Lead for the Clinical Learning products at Elsevier, a healthcare tech and publishing company.
When she’s not strategizing how to make nurses’ lives easier, she writes articles on Medium about UX design and research as well as AnkylosingSpondylitis.net to bring awareness to the disease. Ultimately hoping to improve the healthcare experience, Auldyn looks to make even the most bleak moments a little bit better. She received a Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University in 2013.
