Nicole Gravagna is Chief Visionary at Rocky Mountain Patent and co-author of Venture Capital for Dummies. She is active in the startup and investing communities in Colorado through her work as Advisory Board Member of Coalition for a Connected West and previously Director of Operations in the Rockies Venture Club. Nicole holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado, a M.S. from the University of Maryland, and a B.S. from Washington College.
Nicole will speak about her current project. She is visiting various cities in the US and abroad to meet with people involved in local startup communities. During these trips, she talk with those who have been devoting their lives to startups, looking for local fears and local points of pride. As Nicole goes from city to city, she finds similarities , uncovers warts, and is highlighting the things that are working. This project builds on the work and writings of both Brad Feld, “Startup Communities” and Richard Florida, “Rise of the Creative Class.” Her book documents the dawning of the age of the startup, the birth of democratized entrepreneurship.

Social Radar (http://www.socialradar.com/) - Michael Chasen
Michael Chasen is an entrepreneur who is focused in the technology, education and SoLoMo (Social Local Mobile) space. After co-founding Blackboard, Michael led the company as CEO for 15 years and successfully sold it to Providence Equity Partners for $1.7 billion in 2011. He is the current CEO and co-founder of SocialRadar, a company focused on the mobile location services space.
When you walk into a room, enter a restaurant, attend a conference, or go to an event, SocialRadar tells you: who is there, how you are connected to them, and what they have been up to. It works by combining your phone’s location info with the chatter from your social networks (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Instagram, Google+).
