Philly New Tech Meetup #48 - Mar 2018 -- Cybersecurity

Details

We'll be talking Cybersecurity this month. A common saying in the security world is that there are two types of companies, those that have been hacked and those who don't know it yet! Join us to find out more about new technology in password protection, cloud applications and military threat intelligence. PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE DATE HAS CHANGED TO WEDNESDAY, 3/28/18

5:45 Networking and food

6:15 Welcome and sponsors

6:20 Demo: PrivaKey https://www.privakey.com
Topic: Implementing Password-Free Authentication
Presenter: Brian Ross, VP of Product and Services
Summary: Privakey will demonstrate their password-free authentication technology in a variety of use cases and provide detail on how it works. They'll then give an overview on how to implement this software and show how companies can use our new cloud service for free today.

6:35 Demo: CrowdStrike https://www.crowdstrike.com/
CrowdStrike is one of the few pre-IPO unicorns in the cybersecurity space - specializing in cloud-based endpoint security, threat intelligence, and incident response services. They have raised over 200 million in funding, with Google Capital as one of the main investors, and currently is valued at a few billion dollars. They are the only endpoint vendor that crowdsources customer data to reveal new attack behaviors and methods - currently ingesting over a 100 billion events per day. Their Incident Response team is run by former executive director of the cybersecurity program for the FBI, Shawn Henry. This team really brought CrowdStrike into the public eye when they were involved in the remediation of the Democratic National Committee breach and put attribution to Russia.

6:50 Keynote Demo: Looking Glass Cyber Solutions https://www.lookingglasscyber.com
Looking Glass Cyber will talk about the capabilities of their new toolset -- CS4KE, and how they integrate cyber threat intelligence into it, what that threat intel looks like, how they get it, and then do a cool demonstration of some of the customizable capabilities including modifying packets in transit. The demonstration piece will show how they use the CS4KE to edit HTML as it passes through the hardware at ~10 Gbps. This has tons of implications and use-cases across Federal, DOD, and commercial sectors, basically anywhere there’s large networks and tons of throughput. Speaker Bio: Ben Fehling is a Senior Cyber Security Engineer with LookingGlass Cyber Solutions LLC. Ben entered the Air Force in 2002 and was initially trained as a Korean Cryptologic Linguist supporting NSA and DOD directed intelligence missions. During his 15 years with the Air Force his positions have ranged across the intelligence spectrum from Signals Development, Counter Intelligence, Linguistics and Cryptology, Network Traffic Analysis, Malware Analysis, and support to Computer Network Operations and Exploitation. Since June of 2017, Ben has been a part of LookingGlass’s Public Sector team, with customers ranging from the US Air Force, DHS, Department of State, and NATO.
