What we're about

If you love to use, collect, repair, or just learn about the amazing history and current enthusiasm for typewriters, this is your group. We are are hard-core typeheads, collectors and mechanics, dedicated to advocating and nurturing the modern typewriter renaissance through regular get-togethers at our South Philly location on East Passyunk Ave. We'll be sponsoring informative talks by experts on typewriter collecting & maintenance, meet-and-greets where you can network with other enthusiasts and swap stories, and classes taught by our living link to the generations of typewriter mechanics gone by, Bryan Kravitz, Philly's own "Typewriter Guy".

While we are a working typewriter sales and repair shop (Philly Typewriter (http://www.phillytypewriter.com)), the purpose of this Meetup is not to promote sales at the shop. Rather, we want to share our enthusiasm and knowledge of these amazing machines with anyone the Philly area who has an interest in them. Our ultimate goal is to help you find your own perfect writing machine, whether in your attic, at a Goodwill, or even on eBay (please, not eBay), and perhaps to make a few new friends in the process. Our circle already includes poets, writers, artists, creative writing professors, mechanical engineers, and folks who just love getting ink, oil and grease on their fingers. Not a bad bunch of folks to hang out with!
