New Meeting: Feast at Maggiano's! (or things could get ugly ... again)

Announcing a new meeting for The Philadelphia Dining Out Meetup Group!

What: Feast at Maggiano's! (or things could get ugly ... again)

When: Friday, May 30, 8:15 PM

Event fee: USD1.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: Anyone with an appetite! The restaurant described it to me as $26.50 per person for a multi-course meal of "bottomless" family-style/sharing-sized portions.

Why: If you don't attend, Bruno will eat you.

Meeting Description: Once upon a last May, Bruno the Bear awoke from hibernation groggy and starved. He emerged from his cave, stretched and smelled something wonderful. "Mmm...sausage."

With that, Bruno yawned and hypnotically set off from his home in northern Italy, following the tasty scent 80km through the snowy Alps and Austria into Germany.

Bruno inhaled the sausagey air and knew he was in heaven. And the townspeople were so thrilled to see the first wild bear in Bavaria in 170 years, they invited him to a feast. But all they had was spatzle, because the sausages were eaten at a party the night before.

Incredulous, Bruno trembled ever so slightly as he stared straight ahead, twitching and silently pondering the delicious party he missed, his aching feet and the tummy that was empty and meatless. And, lo, Bruno was pissed.

He roared off, devouring seven sheep and snacking at henhouses on the way home before he vanished. Some said he went incognito. Some said he was eaten by a larger, hungrier German bear. Some said he was assassinated by chicken vigilantes who work for sheep.

But just when Europe had given up, Bruno was spotted falling backward into a mud puddle about 20km from the Italian border. Bruno was just about home...and it's our job to throw him an authentic welcome-home Italian feast at Maggiano's Little Italy!

In case you missed it above, the restaurant described the dining style to me as $26.50 per person for a multi-course meal of "bottomless" sharing-sized portions. Bring your appetite! Mangia!

(This story is dedicated to Marc who made fun of me, saying that I couldn't write a description any more inane than the one for our last event. Thank you for the challenge, my friend. And by the way, Bruno wants a word with you.)

Please use the "MAYBE" option, if:

1. You're unsure of whether or not you can make the dinner; or
2. You're not totally committed to coming. (You can always change it later.)

IF YOU RSVP "MAYBE," please confirm "YES" or "NO" as soon as possible because events fill up quickly.

In order to accommodate members who want to attend the event (but didn't get to RSVP as quickly), RSVPs still listed as "MAYBE" two days before the event will automatically default to "NO" to make room for other potential attendees.

By the same token, the site will not accept "MAYBE" RSVPs within the two days prior to the event. (At that point, new RSVPs that list themselves as "Maybe" are automatically defaulted to "No" as well.)

Usual rules apply...

Three quick things you need to know:
1) Make sure you RSVP right away since our reservation is limited to 15 people.
2) To help defray the costs of the website, $1 will be added to your bill at the restaurant. Small price to pay for great food and great company!
3) If you happen to arrive at the restaurant before I do, the reservation is in my name (Charles).

RSVP & Waitlisting
One final note ... Please stay true to your RSVP. If you don't think you can make it make it, please change your RSVP, so others can join in the fun. (Likewise, if you want to participate in the event, but it's already filled up; RSVP "NO" and put "Waitlist me" in the response section. I'll contact you if any spaces open up.)
