The Greater Phoenix Orienteering Club is a group dedicated to the sport of orienteering. Orienteering is an event in which competitors use map and compass skills to navigate over terrain as quickly as possible in order to find a series of pre-placed "control" markers. Think of it as a poor man's adventure race or an adult Easter egg hunt. Our meets are open to everyone of all ages and skill levels. Come on out and have some fun running around the desert with us.
The Greater Phoenix Orienteering Club is hosting a general meeting at Boulders on Broadway from 7-9pm on Friday, January 25th. This is an "Open House", meaning it's open and free to everyone - members and non-members alike. This includes all of our Meetup and Facebook friends. We plan to discuss the future of the club and our plans to grow. We need your input. We could be a big, top-tier club in the country but we need your help to get there. Come support the club and help us plan the future. Also, there will be free pizza!
Boulders on Broadway
530 W. Broadway Road
Tempe, Arizona 85282
Meeting will be from 7pm to 9pm. There is no charge but please RSVP so we can get an idea of how many pizzas we need to order.
We're once again offering a set of short navigation events at our South Mountain event site in Phoenix. In coordination with City of Phoenix park rangers, we'd like to welcome you to our FREE events at the Piedras Grandes picnic area in South Mountain Park. This area contains navigation challenges through different desert terrains including mountain peaks, dry washes, rocky outcrops, etc. We hope you'll take the time to join us to practice your navigation skills at one of our few event sites inside Phoenix city limits.
