• What we'll do
The Greater Phoenix Orienteering Club (GPHXO) is very pleased to announce that we will be host our FIRST EVER OUSA National Ranking event at First Water on Sunday Feb 25, 2018.
A National Ranking Event (previously known as an “A-meet”) is a big deal in the orienteering community. This race contributes to the rank scoring for national championships and/or qualifications for a seat on the OUSA National teams. These type of events draw elite competitors from the U.S. and Canada. (See the youtube video link below to get a sense of the level of competition for elite orienteers.) We’ve been busy updating the map to include more detail, and have a national expert reviewing the course designs—both of which should enhance your orienteering experience. This event will also feature electronic punching—another first for GPHXO!
This is the final event in the Tucson/Phoenix Southwest Spring Week activities. REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO 100 COMPETITORS AND IS AVAILABLE ON-LINE NOW THROUGH FEBRUARY 15. Note that this registration website also includes the local GPHXO meets on Saturday Feb. 24 and all the Tucson events. The fee for competitive courses is $20 per individual or team.
Come join us for a unique opportunity to see some of the best orienteers in the U.S. and take part in the exciting world of competitive orienteering. See the GPHXO event website for complete details and a link to the registration website:
P.S. - Volunteers are needed the day of the event. Please consider checking the “volunteer” box when you register—thanks!
