What we're about
Anyone who wishes to practice sitting meditation and integrate meditation into daily life is welcome to join this new group! We will meet in Central Phoenix in the wonderful space of the dojo (practice hall) of the Shotokan Karate studio.
We will sit in silent meditation for 40 minutes, hear a brief talk on Buddhist teachings, and discuss how to gain inner equanimity and live mindfully in everyday life. Beginners and mature meditators are invited.
Even as we draw on Sōtō Zen (Shikantaza), vipassana (insight), and Tibetan practices, this group will be non-sectarian and open to anybody who wishes to practice mindfulness in daily life (whatever their beliefs) and to discuss the Buddhist dharma (teachings).
Please bring your own cushion, although we have a few.
Chairs will be provided for those who need them.
Wear comfortable clothing.
Beginners should arrive 20 minutes early.
Other should arrive 10 minutes early, so that we can begin promptly.
Doors will close at start time.
