What we're about

Mindfulness/awareness meditation is the foundation of all that we do at the Shambhala Meditation Center. This ancient practice of self-discovery is rooted in the simple but revolutionary premise that every human being has the ability to cultivate the mind’s inherent stability, clarity and strength in order to be more awake and to develop the compassion and insight necessary to care for oneself and the world genuinely. Our regular sittings are Wednesday night 7-7:30pm and Sunday morning 9:30-11am. All sittings are free and open to the public. Meditation instruction is available upon request. For further information, please visit our web site at phoenix.shambhala.org

Sarpashana is meditation & dharma studies related to alcohol or other addictions and recovery.

Sarpashana was known as the Buddhist Alcohol Study Group when it began in the mid-1980s in Boulder for members dealing with alcoholism or alcohol-related problems. This is a study group for all those interested in relating their path of meditation and dharma studies to their alcohol or other addictions and recovery. We explore the challenges, as well as the opportunities, that our addictions and attachments provide us in this context. Sarpashana is not viewed as a substitute for other recovery systems, but as an additional support for other means of recovery. The meetings combine meditation, study, and discussion. Meetings are from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings.
