Fullfil your vision

In December you have a rare opportunity to spend a whole long weekend expanding your photographic vision. Learn how to take  the idea in you have in your mind's eye when you look at a scene,  and bring it to life in a strong photograph.

In a series of hands-on workshops using the luminous light that is found on Cape Cod in winter,  you will learn the importance of envisioning your photograph before you make camera decisions, and in the words of many great landscape photographers you will "slow down and take fewer images", but each image you take will be stronger and more effective.

You will learn how to incorporate the essential elements of design into your photographs

  • Contrast
  • Tone
  • Color,
  • Line
  • Shape
  • Pattern

and how to use these to create depth, mood and impact in your shots.

Concentrating onlLandscape and nature photography you will visit several locations on the Cape over a long weekend beginning on Friday and ending on Sunday evening.

Using the exceptional qualities of the natural light at various  times during the day you will learn how to harness and incorporate it into your landscapes.  Couple this with expert instruction and guidance on how to simplify  and strengthen your images with the correct use of design and composition elements and you have a recipe for really improving your approach to landscape.

Our accommodation is excellent, providing each participant with their own private queen room with bath.  In addition to a Cheese and Wine reception on Friday evening you will get Breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday and Dinner at a local restaurant on Saturday evening.  The accommodation is also a Day Spa so you could arrive early or stay late and treat yourself to a soothing massage.

The whole weekend will be relaxed and laid back and the aim is to provide a comfortable and luxurious environment in which to learn.  The workshops will take place mainly outdoors with some time indoors by the fire to review and critique your images .

The cost includes instruction and all accommodation and meals as described above.  The group is limited in size to ten and the cost is $695.

As you will be given a Queen Room  there is the  possibility for a non-participating partner to accompany you for a very small extra charge (to cover meals)  Contact Ian at [address removed] for details.

Please note: This weekend workshop is being offered by the owners of the Penny House Inn,  and as such pre-paid discount credits purchased for use with Photography Workshops can't be applied to this event.

However, in keeping with our standard  policy of providing scholarships there may be  a limited amount of discounted places available for those in need.   Contact Ian for details.
