By unlocking the body’s potential to become a '360 degree' performer Connect the voice to the body to become more powerful and creative Become aware of your relationship to props, space, time and other performers Develop improvisatory and spontaneity skills Gain a deeper sense of confidence and emotional sensitivity Develop your 'presence' and 'gravitas' to stand out from the others Because it's REALLY FUN! **Exercises draw from the Suzuki Method of Actor Training and The Nobbs Suzuki Praxis. THIS PHYSICAL TRAINING IS SOMETIMES CALLED "PRE-EXPRESSIVE" ACTOR TRAINING "Pre-expressive" is the work we do before we move into character and text analysis. It is physical training that develops gravitas, presence, power and creativity. It develops an energy in the performer that the audience wants to look at. The performer who trains physically has tested what their body can do, how it feels on stage, and the shapes it can create. And it connects the voice to the body to produce a deeper, stronger vocal quality. Performers who trains gain a bigger understanding of themselves. They become more daring and dynamic, and come to the stage/rehearsal room with greater confidence and flexibility, and the ability to play and experiment. INSTRUCTOR KATE LEE has performed and created theatre internationally in Australia, Japan, London and New York. She has trained extensively in the Suzuki Method, NSP, martial arts, and other body practices including Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and contemporary and Latin dance. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Urban Theatre Lab - theatre that responds to the city. WE WILL USE THIS SPEECH: Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time, and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death. Out, out brief candle. Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing!
