  • Zombie Shooting Practice

    The Range

Hello ladies, It’s ZOMBIE NightπŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈ To kill a zombie, the shooter must shoot the zombie in the head. So instead of shooting at center mass, you will have to focus in on the zombie's noggin to make an impact during a zombie apocalypse. This means you need to keep your six fundamentals of shooting honed and ready. Zombie night is a great way to do that. This is open to all levels of shooters that feel comfortable enough to shoot with little or no guidance. Bring you favorite zombie targets, large or small, and plan to cleanse North Stafford of its zombies. You can purchase zombie targets online or you can purchase them from me for a $1 each. If you have the time to attend, but you do not want to participate in the scheduled drill/event, you don't have to. Join us and hone your skills in whichever manner you are comfortable with. For the new shooters here is a link to the rules of The Range - it would be beneficial to read before your first visit: http://www.pistolpackingladies.com/single-post/2015/11/09/Safety-Rules-For-Shooting-at-The-Range See you at The Range, Your PPL Team

  • Assess-the-area Drills

    The Range

Hello ladies, This event is open to ALL PPL shooters who feel comfortable enough with little or no supervision. This event is great for practicing the five fundamentals of shooting. You'll want to bring at least four paper plates, a stapler (see our Getting Started page on the http://www.pistolpackingladies.com website) and a magic marker. We'll staple four plates to the cardboard and number them 1, 2, 3 and 4. When ready, the shooter will pick up her gun from the table and "assess the area" by keeping the muzzle pointed down range and looking over each shoulder to ensure the "area is clear". Behind her is a member of the team sticking out a hand with a number of fingers showing 1, 2, 3 or 4 on either side (not both sides). The shooter then turns toward the target and shoots the number indicated by the team member and quickly but accurately as she can, then she repeats the process. The targets will be at the 7 yard line (second yellow line). Plan to join us for an hour and a half of challenging shooting. See you Thursday! • Weak/Single Hand Shooting Night

    The Range

Hello ladies, We hope you've had a great week and that you're ready for something a little different. Tonight we are going to practice shooting with our weak hand. Why, you ask? Because proficiency with your strong hand is key, of course, but if your strong hand is out of commission for whatever reason, knowing how to comfortably and confidently handle and fire your pistol with your weak hand will offer a new kind of confidence. You'll start shooting with a strong two-hand hold, then a strong single-hand hold, then you will transfer the gun safely to your weak hand then continue to shoot with your weak two-hand hold and your weak single-hand hold. This can be challenging, but it's a good experience and you'll learn how good you can shoot with a single and/or strong hand. As always, we encourage you to try the shooting events that are new to you, but please do not feel that you have shoot as described. All shooters are welcome to attend and shoot as you normally would. See you soon! Your PPL Team PPL Website: www.pistolpackingladies.com (http://www.pistolpackingladies.com/)

  • BEEWARE Target Night

    The Range

Hello ladies, BEEWARE Targets are great halo, or splatter, targets. When you shoot the target, there appears a 'halo' around the shot hole so you can see where you shot much easier. BEEWARE sent PPL some free targets a few months ago and we still have some left, so if you have your own, please bring them. If you don't, I'll have one to offer you at no cost. This is open to all levels of shooters that feel comfortable enough to shoot with little or no guidance. Stay safe. Shoot well. Your PPL Team www.pistolpackingladies.com

  • Competition Night

    The Range

Ladies, are you ready to rummmmble?!? It sounds much better when I say it than when I write it. Hm. * Don't let the word "Competition" scare you away from this event. This event is open to ALL level of shooters. If nothing else, it's really good target practice. You do not have to 'compete', but I do encourage every shooter to participate as a competitor in this event. It is a great opportunity to add a little bit of pressure to your shooting to see how you do. This event is about accuracy, but it is also about experience. This competition is for .380, 9mm, .40 or .45 caliber semi-automatic pistols. You can also compete with a .38 revolver. You are limited to just one gun for this event, so pick the gun you shoot best. If you need to borrow a gun, please let me know. You'll need 50 rounds of ammo, a black or blue marker and your normal accompaniment of safety gear. I will bring the targets (the type is undisclosed at this time). I will also bring a score card (to track your shots upon completion of the shooting). There will be prizes for the top 3 competitors. Prizes to be determined. Here is how it works. 1) Upon arrival, let us know if you are participating as a competitor. Again, I encourage everyone to participate as a competitor. Each shooter will get five targets, one for each round of shooting. Ensure you put your name on each target and number them 1 to 5. 2) We anticipate a large attendance, so we'll group ladies two or three to a lane. 3) The targets will be placed at the 7 yard line (the second yellow line in the firing lane). 4) Each shooter will fire 10 rounds/firing turn. 5) Upon completion of each round, the shooter will pull her target back and WAIT to score her targets until after all 5 rounds have been completed. 6) After all shooters in your lane are done shooting, shooters will score their targets in the lobby area. Each shooter will count the shots and record the score on the shot tracker. When you count your holes, you start from the 10 ring and work your way to the 9 ring, 8 ring and so-on. If the shot hole hit a line, you count the next highest score. For instance, if the hole is on the line between the 8 and the 9, that shot counts as a 9. 7) Once all score cards are complete, we'll determine who the winners are. There can only be one 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, so if we have a tie, we will have additional rounds until the score is settled. The 1st place winner will choose her prize of three choices. The 2nd place winner will chose her prize. The 3rd place shooter will get the remaining prize. Instructors are encouraged to participate, but they are excluded from the prizes. Super excited to see everyone there.
