Facebook event: ABOUT THE SLAM Tonight is an Open Slam! Poets slamming tonight may read poems on any subject or in any style they choose! 3 Rounds - 3 Minute Time Limit Per Poem! No Props No Costumes No Musical Accompaniment Poets competing in tonight’s slam will earn points towards future marquee shows! All slamming poets receive - 1 point 3rd Place - 3 points 2nd Place - 4 points 1st Place - 5 points current points standings: FREE SPEECH DISCLAIMER The Steel City Slam is a Free Speech Zone! Poets may say whatever they like on our mic! This means you may hear: cuss words, mature themes, or difficult and/or triggering content on our microphone. HOWEVER, we remind the audience they ALSO have the power of free speech, and are encouraged to respond accordingly to content presented on the mic. We advise our poets and audience to be respectful to one another and engage each other in conversation about the content of the poetry and behaviour presented on and off our stage. This group was created to share events, accomplishments, and other information related to poetry in the Pittsburgh region. Feel free to post info about readings and other poetry events, calls for submissions, book releases, and whatever else might be of interest to poets and poetry lovers of the Pittsburgh region. This group is managed by the Pittsburgh Poetry Collective for promotion of poetry events in the greater Pittsburgh area. Our flagship program is the Steel City Poetry Slam.

If information and ease of access to information regarding future Pittsburgh region poetry events and announcements regarding poetry of all disciplines and styles is important to you, this is where you want to be!!

Multiple venues, multiples types of events. This is about coordination, education, event sharing, etc. Even events on the same night/ time is cool. This a one-stop poetry events around the city shop. Don't get fussy or nit-picky, this is about poetry. Respect to all forms; all styles.
