Modern Day Knight: The Art of Todd Pinkham
Ten Monumental paintings create a gallery space where an epic story unfolds…Modern Day/Knight tells the moralistic story of a modern warrior as he fights for his beliefs and strict codes against evil hordes of allegorical and fantastical monsters still present in this day and age.
Done in the Tenebrist style of the old masters, this suite of realistic paintings takes the viewer on a fanciful tale down the yellow brick road. The architectural frieze- like format repeats the warrior’s visage and unfolds his feats against modern day evils. Join our hero in his quest -trying to liberate all of us from these modern Dark Ages and in search of his own personal holy grail, his own salvation.
Todd Pinkham is currently teaching painting as an Associate Professor at California University of Pennsylvania and his work reflects his noble calling. He has also been an active burner, known as Hyena, pilgrimaging to Black Rock City for the last six years.
During these dark times he seeks to enlighten himself and then others who seek to follow on his private crusade against sky high castles of corporations and robber barons of pure greed and evil. This body of work is formal and much like the illuminated manuscripts and was done with the thankless devotion of a cloistered monk over two years….This Pop epic in a Thomas Kinkaid style is a mystical Camelot of our day….
Opening Saturday night, December 14th , 2013 and running through January.
