We'll use the GTMetrix Site Speed Tool to live test a WordPress site and then use the actionable recommendations and insight from the report in real time to make improvements using free resources.

Because there are many different website hosts with different servers and server settings (some more optimized than others), there are a lot of different variables that can affect loading times for websites. While an improved website loading speed cannot be guaranteed, we're going to cover a handful of 'best practices' that will more than likely help improve the loading speed of most websites.

Bring a laptop computer if you have one so you can follow along and test your own website. Be sure you have access to the administrative side of your WordPress site as well as permissions to install plugins. It's also helpful if you have access to your website hosting account as there are simple solutions that can be used without installing a plugin if you have access to your hosting account.

If you don't have a laptop or prefer to just listen and take the information back with you to give to someone else to complete, that's totally fine too - everyone is welcome!

This meetup is for anyone who has a WordPress website with a loading speed they'd like to try to improve.
