What we’re about

This is a group for anyone interested in reading and discussing architecture, design, city and urban planning books.
The aim is to read and discuss a wide range of technical, traditional, technological, philosophical, and not-too-heavy books on all things relating to the built environment. The meetup can also serve as a platform to attend relevant lectures, workshops and events as a group.

The idea for an archi-design bookclub has risen from me wanting to chat about some of the books I've been reading and want to read in the future.

Here is a very, very short list that is completely open to change:

The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane JacobsDelirious New York by Rem KoolhaasThe Poetics of Space by Gaston BachelardThe Image of the City by Kevin A. LynchHow Buildings Learn by Stewart BrandLearning from Las Vegas - VenturiThe Architecture of Happiness by Alain de BottonArchitecture depends by Jeremy TillThe Seven Lamps of Architecture by John Ruskin
We could also go a bit more fiction and read books with Architects as main characters (Fountainhead?) or architecture specific fiction (Invisible Cities).

The meetings will be organised primarily through meetup:http://meetu.ps/c/2LJS8/18d4B/f
but there will also be an accompanying facebook

P.S. If you're not a big reader there will likely be beer at these events.
