What we're about

Our Plant-Powered Ambassadors group is designed to empower, inform & support:

• Individuals who are already plant-based.

• Individuals who are transitioning into plant-based nutrition.

• Anyone interested in learning about the power of plant-based nutrition.

We are here to support and encourage one another. We aim to build a sort of “Blue Zones” community of like-minded individuals. Over the course of the year, we will offer activities such as:

• Plant-based potlucks/picnics.

• Plant-based cooking classes/sharing of recipes.

• Workshops/lectures such as: Plant-Based Nutrition 101, Groceries 101, Handling Challenges, etc.

• Attend or host events that promote plant-based nutrition.

• Gather/share resources on plant-based nutrition.

• Walk With A Doc or “Walk With An Ambassador”.

**What is whole food plant-based nutrition (WFPBN)? This is a lifestyle of eating 100% plants such as grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts/seeds, spices/herbs. Avoiding or minimizing highly processed vegan foods is key for optimal health.**

Code Blue: Redefining The Practice of Medicine (FREE Screening)

UNT Health Science Center

Please join PlantBased DFW and Nature's Plate for a FREE screening of Code Blue. RSVP details at bottom of page. We are excited to bring you this film at: UNT Health Science Center 3500 Camp Bowie Boulevard Fort Worth, Texas 76107 The film will be followed by a Q & A discussion with local plant-based physician Dr. Riz and other experts - to be announced. If you are unable to come because of distance, please share our FB event link with others who you think can attend. Through the lens of filmmaker Marcia Machado, code blue reveals lapses in the current state of medicine and provides a common sense solution by featuring the practice of lifestyle medicine to prevent, manage and reverse chronic diseases. The film presents the hurdles to the proposed shift: antiquated curricula in medical schools, confusion in the media, inadequate government policies, and the underlying influences of the pharmaceutical and food industries. Code Blue follows a passionate physician, Dr. Saray Stancic, as she reflects upon her journey from a multiple sclerosis diagnosis to wellness through her own adoption of lifestyle medicine. Dr. Stancic introduces us to expert physicians and scientists who are paving the way to make meaningful and necessary change in our healthcare environment, and in turn, empowering audiences to stand up and reclaim control of their health.
