A Dialog with StoicDan: “Margaret Fuller and The Transcendentalists”
Margaret Fuller was one of the main influencers in the Transcendentalist movement. She was a contemporary to Emerson and Thoreau, and also a noted journalist. In 1840, she became the editor of "The Dial", the official magazine of the Transcendentalist movement. She was also regarded as a women's advocate, and in 1845, she published her famous book "Woman in the Nineteenth Century". In her writings, two of the recurring themes are (1) society is burdened by selfish desires and (2) we are on the verge of a spiritual awakening. This Sunday, let's discuss the life and writings of Margaret Fuller.
StoicDan is the organizer of Orlando Stoics, Tampa Stoics, and The Emerson & Thoreau Discussion Group.
