This Sunday:
A Dialog with IM’s StoicDan: “Is Forgiveness disappearing today?”
In the book "The Sunflower", Simon Wiesenthal recounts the story of the day he was called to a hospital bed, and a dying Nazi officer begged him to listen... he told Simon of killing many Jews. After several hours of describing many atrocities, he asks Simon (as a Jew) to forgive him so he can die in peace. The dramatic ending is Simon standing and leaving the room, without saying a word. What is forgiveness and are there some atrocities that cannot be forgiven?
In modern society, we may find it difficult to forgive people for smaller and smaller misdeeds. In turn, this means we are carrying a larger and larger burden. We'll review forgiveness from several angles: religious, psychological, philosophical. Please review the links below... and let's discuss the benefits of forgiveness this Sunday.
