Plein Air Austin coordinates monthly paint outs in Austin and around central Texas. We enjoy painting the scenery of many local parks and natural areas for which the Texas Hill Country is so well-known. If you are interested in painting outdoors come out and join us for our next paint out!

North Loop Shops Paint Out

A walkable corridor of independent, quirky shops that locals say genuinely upholds the city's "Keep It Weird" motto. Check out this article from Tribeza describing some of the shops you can find along the strip.What to bring:
- The art medium and supplies you'd like to work in — no supplies will be provided
- Water (there is no shade, so please dress appropriately for painting en plein air)
Good to know:
- We do not have approval from the businesses to paint interiors; this paint out will take place along the shopping district in parking lots and on sidewalks.
- Restroom facilities are not available on site.
- Parking: If you'd like to park near our gathering spot, street parking is available south of 53rd/N. Loop along Avenue F.
The owner of Aurora House has generously offered to host our group throwdown, so we'll gather at Aurora House at the end of the paint out for a quick throwdown.

Vintage Bookstore & Wine Bar gives a 19th-century East Austin landmark — a building that has been a grocery, a saloon, Shorty's Bar, and law offices — a fresh life as a cozy literary gathering place. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic places, and more of its history can be read here.What to bring:
- The art medium and supplies you'd like to work in — no supplies will be provided
- Water (there is no shade, so please dress appropriately for painting en plein air)
Good to know:
- This paint out will take place along the shopping district in parking lots and on sidewalks.
- The bookstore will not be open at the start of the paint out. While we have been in touch with the owner, it will be up to individual artists to gain approval if they would like to paint interiors.
- Restroom facilities are not available on site.
- We will end with an artist throwdown; artists can share in progress or completed work
Parking: - Street parking throughout this area is metered. Plan to carpool or use public transportation if you want to avoid paying for parking.
