Welcome to the Pocono Gourmets’ home page! We are an active and inclusive group with an established record of having fun and creating friends. We are a home cooking and restaurant dining group. You do not need to be a good cook to join this group, but a lover of good food. If you’d like to consider becoming one of us, please read the next paragraph carefully.
Pocono Gourmets is only interested in having members that participate. (what we consider “participation” is very simple; attending one event per year) If you just want to add your name to our membership list, and then are never seen or heard from again, you won’t be part of us for very long. Some friendly advice: if you live more than ½ an hour away, or belong to more than 20 groups, write an introductory paragraph when you are filling out the questions to apply. Assure us that you are able and willing to attend an event. And if you belong to dozens and dozens of groups, an introductory paragraph is all but required in order to be accepted.
We suggest you read our by-laws before you consider joining. These by-laws are in a document titled “Courtesy and Respect”, which is under the “Pages” tab at the top of this web page. (scroll down that page to the Table of Contents)
Here is a summary of our by-laws:
· 3 no-shows equals removal from the group
· This is not a dating Meetup. Look for another group if that’s your intention
· Post a clear picture of yourself and ONLY yourself in order to be accepted
· Conditions set by the event host are non-negotiable
· Do not bring children to events unless specifically OK’ed
· Attend one event per year to maintain membership
· If you make a commitment, keep it
THIS GROUP IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO ARE 21 AND OVER. We conduct a lot of different events, but always in the pursuit of a gourmet lifestyle. Things like food festivals, winery tours, and other unique food-related events are on the schedule for those who are less interested in cooking. We have no particular style of cuisine that we follow, and most are willing to try anything as long as it tastes good! But whether you come to cook or to dine out, we are looking for those who love the best of food and the best of company. We look forward to meeting you.
