Grails is an open source web application framework which uses the Groovy programming language (which is in turn based on the Java platform). It is intended to be a high-productivity framework by following the "coding by convention" paradigm, providing a stand-alone development environment and hiding much of the configuration detail from the developer.

This 1-day codecamp is designed to provide Java developers with the basics of Groovy and how to use the Grails framework to rapidly create sophisticated web applications. The students of this codecamp will learn the language features of the Groovy first. The rest of the codecamp will be devoted to learning Grails framework functionality such as Domain Class, Grails controller, and Groovy Server Pages (GSP).
