Speaker Profiles
Dr. Gavin Wood, Founder @ Parity Technologies (Former CTO of Ethereum)
Dr. Wood was the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of the Ethereum Project. He is the co-designer of the Ethereum Protocol, author of its formal specification, and is the creator and author of the first functional Ethereum implementation. Dr. Wood designed and stewarded the Solidity language, was the project chief of the IDE, and designed and implemented the Whisper protocol. He has pushed “state-of-the-art” in analysis tools and programming languages, as well as co-founded several technology start-ups. Dr. Wood has presented to numerous audiences around the world, from keynotes at regional technology conferences, to musings on the future of legal systems at Harvard. Dr. Wood holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of York. His new initiative is the Polkadot protocol, which will connect public and private blockchains so that they can inter-operate. This ambitious project could make it frictionless for corporations that wish to work in private blockchains to connect with public blockchains.
Ryan Zurrer, Director @ Web3 Foundation (Former Polychain Capital Venture Partner)
Ryan is the former Principal and Venture Partner at Polychain Capital. He has been an active investor and miner in the blockchain ecosystem since 2012. For five years, Ryan was the CEO of a large Brazilian renewables firm (958MW portfolio). Prior to that, Ryan worked in investment banking focused on financial technology.

"Recently there has been a great deal of confusion around the positioning and potential competition of these two projects, and in the spirit of open dialogue and common ground, we will be covering how the two projects compliment each other, whether they potentially overlap, and generally how they can support each other from a community and technical perspective going forward."
Dillon Chen, Co-founder @ Commonwealth Labs
Dillon is a Co-Founder of Commonwealth Labs, which is building Edgeware. Prior to Commonwealth, Dillon spent time investing at Turing Capital, at General Catalyst’s Rough Draft Ventures, and as a cofounder of Source Networks.
Kevin Sekniqi, Co-founder and Chief Protocol Architect at AVA Labs
"Bitcoin, and more specifically 'blockchain', has deep social, economical, and political implications. But, in its 10th year of nascency, we are still laying the technological foundations to support the true DeFi dream. In this talk, we discuss the present and future developments in core infrastructure, and how the AVA platform will play a key role in building the future of blockchain tech."
