How did you hear about Ponderer's Cafe?

I found the group in the weekly "meet-ups near you" emails. I read "SOCRATES CAFE" many years ago and always wanted to join a philosophy discussion group, but this is the first I've ever actually seen one available.

Introduction

Hi. I'm Katie. I decided to join Ponderer's Cafe because too many conversations in my life waste time being superficial and silly. There are a lot of big ideas out there and I want meet people who ask big questions.

What Katie C. is saying about this Meetup Group

I think it is a really good idea and I'm looking forward to getting to know the rest of my fellow Ponderers better. Everyone has a great story and is very welcoming and accepting. My one wish is that the group be more about learning than about teaching. I came to Ponderers' Cafe during a very difficult time in my life. Most often, those who are seekers get to that point because of a personal event that changes their worldview. But during difficult time, what most people want it to feel "heard", not to listen. In other words, sometimes the group feels like it devolves into a basic support group instead of a Socratic dialogue about the questions that define our basic understanding of the true, of morality, of dignity, of direction, of knowledge, of spirit. Everyone deserves to be heard and appreciated, but I would really like to have more question-driven sessions where people ask what is truly in their heart and get possible answers from fellow seekers.
