This is a group for anyone in Poole, Bournemouth or further afield that has a love of nature and wildlife. We are blessed to have beautiful and unique natural environments on our doorstep from rare heathland to rich estuaries and even a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so there's so much to explore. Whether you are a budding Chris Packham and already have a great knowledge of the natural world or you enjoy watching the birds in your garden and would like to know more, then come and join us!
Group Etiquette and Rules:
We are a friendly group of wildlife and natural sciences enthusiasts. Our event leaders and co-hosts give their time voluntarily, nobly supported by a core of committed members. Leaders and co-hosts have family and work commitments and may not be available to respond to messages immediately. Please be patient and keep requests for information at a reasonable level.
Members of the group are expected to show respect to other members. sexism, racism, bullying or any form of abuse will not be accepted and anyone found displaying any of these unacceptable behaviours during a group event, or through the medium of the group webpages or social media, may be banned from the group.
The group consist of members from a wide geographical area, beyond the Poole and Bournemouth Catchment. Many events are based within South and East Dorset, however events also take place across a wider geographical area. Members are individually responsible for making their own transport arrangements to attend events, regardless of the location. The majority of group activities will take place within nature reserves, over uneven, rough, sometimes boggy and at times challenging terrain and slopes. Everyone taking part in any of the Group activities or events does so at their own risk. Leaders/Hosts cannot accept responsibility for any circumstances affecting the Health or Safety of participants
There are risks involved with any outdoor activity and we respectfully remind members that the majority of events, activities and nature walks are Not suitable for those with chronic/serious health conditions or limited mobility. If an event or activity 'may be suitable' for those with chronic/serious health conditions or limited mobility this will be clearly stated on the event or activity description. In these circumstances members must contact the Host directly using the private messaging system, to ask for further information.
The majority of events, activities and nature walks take place in wildlife sensitive areas and are Not suitable for dogs. However if an event, activity or nature walk 'may' be suitable for dogs, this will be clearly shown on the event webpage. In these circumstances members must contact the Host directly using the private messaging system, to ask for further information. Leaders/Hosts cannot accept responsibility for any circumstances affecting the Health or Safety of participants or their dogs. Members dogs must be kept under control at all times. Dogs must be on Short leads in areas where livestock are grazing and areas of wildlife and nature conservation value.

If you can’t make it to an event and you RSVPed "yes", please Change your RSVP on "no", so that people on the waiting list have the opportunity to attend, the organiser will know that you will not appear and the group does not wait for you unnecessarily.
Events and activities are for group "members". Guests may, or may not, be admitted at the discretion of event host or leader. Please refer to the individual event pages which will show if guests are permitted to attend or not.
Timeliness & Communication Etiquette:
Please ensure that you are on time at the meeting point. Our scheduled time is the "starting time". Best to arrive 15 minutes before. Events can be cancelled due to illness or other circumstances of the organiser or due to bad weather. The organiser will make sure, that you will be informed about those changes. Please check the Meet Up site before you leave.
There is no obligation for any member to provide a personal/private contact number or email address. Use the group webpage to send a message to members. There is also a facility to send an individual message to another member on the webpage. Members are reminded to use the messaging system appropriately.
Transport Etiquette & Rules:
A transport 'service' is not provided by this group. Members are personally responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from all group events, walks and activities. Car Sharing or providing a lift to members is solely at the discretion of individual drivers and is Not obligatory. Members who ask for a lift are expected to be courteous and understand that there is no obligation for members to respond to transport requests A "non response" indicates that a lift is Not available. Late requests for a lift after RSVP' have Closed will Not be accepted. Drivers will decide - if, when and where they choose to pick up a member. Your postcode must be provided to assist the Driver in choosing a pick up poInt. It is your responsibility to ensure you are waiting at the agreed pick up point, at the correct time. Drivers are not obliged to wait if you are not at the pick up point and will assume that you are not attending. Contributions from members toward fuel costs or acceptance of other offers of recompense, such as parking charges are at the sole discretion of the driver.

We do not employ qualified guides, leaders or first aiders on any of our events. Event organisers and hosts assume no responsibility for anyone attending any group event. The Group, group organisers, event organisers and event hosts will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss occurring as a result of any Group event or in connection with travel to such event, however caused.
When you join an event, whether or not you have signed up for it on the Meetup site, or you attend as a guest, you indicate that you accept these conditions and the group Disclaimers and accept that no legal liability is accepted by the group, group organisers, event organisers or event hosts in the event of accident or injury, however caused. Bournemouth & Poole Nature and Wildlife Group, nor the Leader/Organiser of the group events has control of the environment of events, the weather, any animals or indeed of any of the participants themselves, they cannot accept responsibility for any circumstances affecting the Health or Safety of participants.
Participants are Responsible for their own Health and Safety and the safe keeping of their equipment, clothing and belongings. Participants should also ensure that they do not endanger any others in the party.
Event hosts and the Organisers are not liable for any monies collected by themselves once passed on to the relevant end recipient. Any monies once in their possession are the responsibility of these end recipients.
It must be emphasised that by choosing to join any group activity, you are deemed to do so entirely at your own risk and in full knowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety at all times. You accept that any decision on whether to continue or discontinue participation at any event, walk or activity is entirely your own choice made in the circumstances prevailing at the time, even if based on recommendations of a group leader which you are completely at liberty to disregard.
