Cool show this Saturday, no July 4th jam, and Sunday Jams

Hey everybody!   I have a few things to post, so I am cobbling together a mostly-unrelated e-mail to get them all out there.

a)  There is a cool show this Saturday at the Wolf Den on Sandy, and I think you music-lovers would enjoy it.

This Saturday night June 20th, at 8pm, Wolf Den is hosting Ky Burt and Melanie Jean, touring together out of Western Colorado with Ky's original Americana played on multiple instruments. Ky was recently selected as the 2014 Break-Out Artist of the Year for Music in the Arizona Daily Sun. For this tour he has added Melanie Jean, a classically trained flutist with a B.A. in Music and touring experience with national and international artists. Ky has a website at kyburt.com and the two of them have a kickstarter project at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1360257005/project-in-pursuit.

In addition, we have our very own Walter Wilks opening, and the popular Portland indie-rock band Ill Lucid Onset (http://www.illlucidonset.com/)! It's going to be a great night of music at Wolf Den, so come on out to the party! 5220 NE Sandy Blvd, all ages, 8 pm, $10 (doors open at 7:30)

b)  There will be no jam session in the park on the 4th of July.   I figure people already have tons of options for that day!

c)  The Sunday Member's Jams have been getting really solid lately, and I'd like to thank everybody who comes out to those jams (whether they RSVP officially or just show up at the last minute.   I've had a couple of e-mails recently asking me to explain what these every-other-Sunday jams are all about, so I would like to invite any of our more-comfortable players to come out and stretch themselves.   This is the jam where we like to push things, and where we're not afraid of a train wreck if we push too hard.   If you've been looking for something where you get that "Live at Darryl's House" feel, then this may be up your alley.    While everybody is welcome, please recognize that this is the jam where we won't choose the simpler tunes or the more straightforward patterns, and where we're willing to take a second-pass to build up a cool section and see if we can do it even better.   If a particular tune isn't in your wheelhouse, just sit it out until the next one rolls along!  We usually get a solid blend of straightforward-but-fun tunes and challenging-but-intensely-satisfying memorable moments.       Come on out if you're looking for some really solid musical moments to share with your more-comfortable musician friends, whether your playing or just supporting and enjoying the jam!
