Open Studio "Thanks/Giving" Hosted by Christina Erickson

"Thanks/Giving. As we enter the holiday season we are reminded to stop and give thanks for all that is a blessing in our lives. I chose to turn Thanksgiving into two words - thanks and giving - as a theme for November's Open Studio. Perhaps you want to create art that reflects something you're thankful for? Perhaps you want to create art to give to someone? Perhaps you'd thank yourself for finishing up a project that you've set aside? Whatever your goal for this month's Open Studio, get your art supplies out and be prepared to create with friends." ZOOM OPEN STUDIO is an opportunity to get together on Zoom in a supportive atmosphere and have fun creating art with friends. We can share our work and get inspired by others. If you're a new member, you'll be able to meet and create with other members. There will be no instruction; rather, each session will be hosted by a guild member who can provide guidance, if desired. Winnie Givot "Holiday Cards in Watercolor"

Online Zoom

Winnie Givot is a watercolor artist who strives to portray natural beauty as well as the deeper beauty of her subjects. She delights in the light and forms of her subjects, dancing with the flow of paint, watching one color blend with another and connecting with the beauty emerging before her. In 2000, she presented a painting to the Chilean Congress, for which she received their Congressional Medal, and in 2002 she took 24 paintings to Washington DC which were presented to Congresspersons as inspiration - that instead of basing decisions on greed an fear, they work to find new responses and solutions for making decisions which honor the highest in ourselves and all others. More than 1,000 of her paintings are in collections internationally, a few of which are those of Pres. & Mrs. Barack Obama, Pres. & Mrs. George W. Bush, Colin Powell, Deepak Chopra, Senator Ron Wyden, United Parcel Service, Colorado College, Harley Brown, Gov. & Mrs. John Kitzhaber, as well as the Congress of Chile. Her paintings have been included in numerous solo shows and national and international juried exhibitions. Givot belongs to the National Watercolor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and Plein Air Painters of Oregon, and is a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society and Watercolor Society of Oregon (Best of Show Oct. 2019). She is included in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. She lives near Sisters, Oregon in a straw bale house on a small ridge overlooking the Three Sisters, part of the Cascade Mountains and teaches in her barn studio. She also leads international painting retreats abroad. She is currently accepting students for her Painting Retreat in Lisbon, Portugal - September 1-14, 2021. Winnie's work can be viewed at: www.winniegivot.com ABOUT THE CLASSES Come join Winnie Givot in making holiday cards. Each week we will make 4 cards. In this series we will be playing with watercolor as well as sparkle or metallic pens and iridescent watercolor if you want. It is always a delight to see what magic happens... and people love getting homemade cards. See our website for more details and enrollment: https://www.portlandfineartsguild.org/classes.html.php
