What we're about

This group is for anyone interested in functional programming (FP). Whether you're a veteran programmer or just starting out, join us! Whether you're an expert in FP or you don't even know what FP is, all are welcome! Come and tell us about your project or learn about someone else's. This group strives to build an FP community in the Portland, Maine area to share knowledge and experience and to spread the functional word.

FP Fundamentals: Functors

Needs a location

This meeting will be our first introduction to type classes and will examine Functor - probably the most common of all the FP type classes. This presentation will prepare us to tackle more complex type classes in the future. By way of an example for Functor we'll also take a look at the Maybe, a.k.a. Option, data type (type constructor, actually), another mainstay of functional programming.
