Scaling Up of You: Starting with Informational interviews
Details
Hello Meetup!
I am excited about the upcoming meetup.
Danny Rehr (http://linkedin.com/in/dannyrehr) of Rehr Consulting will be talking about informational interviews.
Here is a description about his talk:
Scaling Up of You: Starting With Informational interviews
Scaling out is repetition to broaden one’s area of influence.
Scaling up is expansion of utilization of resources at one’s disposal.
Your job search can be a matter of exposure (i.e. the numbers game) or the impact you have on the market (quality). ...Or it can be both.
This talk is not an argument for what’s best - I am not a career expert.
My message is one of perspective and learning something new about the power you have as a person, not a resume - for job seeking, networking and even professional development during and after.
You can empower yourself by scaling up who you are through informational interviews, or what I define as
An opportunity to learn about a topic and establish an association or even a relationship with a practitioner.
This talk will cover five topics:
- Strategy
- My Story
- Definition of Informational Interviewing
- How To
- Q&A
Please RSVP thoughtfully as space is limited. If you can't attend anymore, please release your spot so others can attend.
Please come prepared with ideas for future talks you would like to attend.
I formed this group to provide tools and support in the sometimes lonely journey of opportunity search. There is a slack group you can join to brainstorm, request a fellow opportunity seeker to review your resume or cover letter, find a accountability partner, request for any connections and in general to enquire, vent or discuss strategies. I've been on this journey myself and want to provide the space for others in the same boat at the moment.
Also, looking for volunteer(s) to be co-organizer(s). It's been scientifically proven that Giving makes us the most happy and a positive attitude does wonders in your search. And after too. Please ping me if you are interested. It's not a time intensive commitment.
