What is first folk song you can remember hearing?

Probably Kingston Trio, If I had a Hammer, or Charley on the MTA. I was in a scout troop and the leader played and sang on our camp-outs, Tom Lear, PP&M, etc. I also have a good friend in Sacramento who has always been into bluegrass and country swing. I really like, no worship, Dylan.

Do you like to play or listen or both?

I've been mostly into jazz and play piano, know a lot of theory. But I have a stand-up bass which I'm getting used to. I would like to join in your sessions when I get better. Maybe I'll come and listen first. Oh, yeah, I can sing pretty good, but don't know a lot of folk songs. I do a lot of karaoke. I believe in preserving live music; disgusted with the music industry.
