What we're about

They say the pen is mightier than the sword. The Power of the Pen: Vancouver Writing Meetup is for people who use the written word in pursuit of their hopes, dreams, income, etc. either professionally or personally.

NEW: Take the survey (https://goo.gl/forms/k80C5EdWiP5WDYpo2) and let your organizers know when's best for you to meet up with us.

We want to:

• Discuss projects - imagined, pending, in progress, successes!

• Network with other writers in the Vancouver area (why should Portland have all the fun?)

• Share best practices -- techniques, motivation, helpful books and tools, etc.

• Educational sessions focusing on technique or a specific aspect of writing; [Note! we are looking for speakers and/or presenters!]

• Invitations to carpool or attend together, writing-related events or Meetups coordinated by other Meetup groups

• Sharing work for critique by request - although this is not a primary focus of the group.

Any member can suggest or schedule a Meetup at any time. All genres welcome. Professionals and amateurs welcome. Unpublished and published welcome.

After joining, please visit our Polls section and tell us what you'd like to get out of this Meetup.

Weekly Writing Session

New Seasons Market

Let's get together for a weekly writing session. It's a time for you to get some writing done, but it's also a chance to chat about writing and get some much needed support and encouragement. We alternate between timed writing sessions and social breaks. Bring your laptop or notebook so you can work on your current project. We'll be at the New Seasons Market on 164th Ave.

Thursday Night Write-In @ Latte Da

Latte Da Coffee House & Wine Bar

Moved this meetup to Thursdays! Are you feeling like you need some caffeine and a quiet place to write to push through those last fifty pages or so? Or are you struggling with writer’s block and think a glass of wine might help you relax enough to start writing again? Whichever you decide on, bring your laptop or a notepad and come join us as we put thoughts into words, and words onto paper. Latte Da is a coffee and wine bar that is in a converted brick house, we will try to be in the small room through the arches; there are not a lot of plugs so please try to be fully charged when you come. If the weather is nice enough we might write outside for a change of scenery. Parking is on-street, be aware of the parking limitation signs.

Sexy Saturday Write-In

Cascade Park Community Library

Calling all erotica and steamy romance authors! We will be having a special interests meetup once a month for those that write about Reginald’s quivering member and/or the thwap of wood meeting skin. We have a reservation for a private room that will hold up to twelve authors. Our reserved room is on the north side of the library next to the teen area down a short hallway. If you can’t find the room, please ask for the reservation under “Power of Pen/Katie Custard” at the front desk and they will assist you. I recommend bringing an extension cord as plugs are not readily available and a bottle of water or thermos, a closed container is preferred. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. See you there!
