Infrastructure on Fire!

Details

Good news everyone!

We've talked a lot about containers, Kubernetes and how you can approach it to make extend and enhance your infrastructure. Now it's time to slow down and look at it from different perspective. How do you check that your infrastructure is stable and serving its purposes well? And we are here with introduction to Prometheus which is nice evolution of OpenSource monitoring enabling you to react to possible issues before they even happen :)

Let's get excited by our speakers:

  • An Introduction to Prometheus (Evgeny Shmarnev)
Prometheus is an open-source systems monitoring and alerting toolkit originally built at SoundCloud. Many companies and organizations have adopted Prometheus, and the project has a very active development and user community. In my talk, I will go through the basic concepts of modern monitoring and a time-series database (TSDB), I will explain briefly how it works and how you can use Prometheus for monitoring and alerting

  • Let's talk with Prometheus (Tomáš Kukrál)
It's obvious that legacy monitoring solutions aren't able to keep pace with modern cloud-native applications. These cloud environments are very dynamic and higly unpredicteble and your monitoring must be able to handle this dynamic mess.
I'll show you how to integrate Prometheus with Kubernetes and monitor applications without any additional configuration changes in Prometheus. We just need to update application to talk with Prometheus but don't be scared ... It's more than easy because Prometheus libraries are available for all major programming languages.
