Join Preston Rambles for walks in Lancashire - fresh air, exercise, lovely countryside - what more could you ask for? We organize walks on a monthly basis. We arrange walks on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month and are usually between 5 and 7 miles. None members are welcome to come along and join in our walks.
If you attend more than 3 walks then it is expected that you become a member of the ramblers.
All our walks are led by experienced walk leaders and are usually graded into 3 types:
Leisurely - Normally a gentle walk with few hills and styles
Moderate - Some climbs with long accent or decent, could also be graded on the length of the walk.
Strenuous - Steep accent or decent, longer distances or open moor land.

Group PrestonThe walk is 7 miles and is a figure of 8. Featuring the hill with no ascent, Basil Point, Sunderland, Sunderland Point and Sambo's Grave.
There will be a lunch stop approximately half way round, please bring a packed lunch and something to drink.
This is interesting coastal walk, good for bird watching. Sunderland and Overton were both ports serving Lancaster. Sunderland is interesting for several reasons and is tidal, cut off twice a day. Although this is a flat walk there is a small easy to climb hill to Basil Point. We will be walking along the beach which will, muddy, wet and quite stoney in parts ..walking poles useful. The Causeway itself can be slippy on the muddy patches. There are also a number of regular styles and ladder styles to climb .

Route: M6 north to Lancaster. Exit M6 at Junction 34 onto A683 towards Heysham. Follow signs for Heysham until you see signs for Overton. Left onto Moss Road.
