[FREE Workshop] UX Building Blocks: Visual Design Basics

Come join Prime Digital Academy’s instructors as they discuss visual design principles, some of the core components for making designs and experiences that are clear and understood by our users.

At this free workshop, we’ll introduce design systems and simplify how they are made. We’ll do some hands-on sketching to practice applying design principles and will engage in a collaborative discussion on the results of those changes.

If you're curious about design and want to know how to get started making visual improvements to your designs than this is for you! Total beginners are welcome.

Leaving our workshop, you will:
-Have a fundamental understanding of visual design principles and how they relate to UX
-Be able to identify principles in action in existing digital designs
-Have practiced applying visual communication principles to improve existing designs
-Be comfortable discussing these principles with others

Preparation:
For the best possible experience, please consider bringing:
-A printed example of a digital design that you have a strong reaction to (can be positive or negative!) or a design you currently would like to improve (for example, a few slides from a PowerPoint/Keynote presentation, a website landing page, a marketing email)
-A favorite pen and notebook for sketching (we will also provide some materials, but having tools you are comfortable with can be helpful!)
-Your collaborative spirit and people skills! We find that people learn best while getting a chance to discuss and apply topics while we teach them.

Your questions are welcome here, and as a result, we know you will get a lot out of the event.

**Please note: There are a few options for parking. We are connected via skyway to both Gateway and Haaf Ramps. Street parking is also a great option. We're on the north side of the Grain Exchange building. If you find yourself on level 5 and don't see us you're likely on the wrong south side of the building!
