ProductTank Dublin - November

Details
Product Tank Dublin is back for another virtual meet up this November. We're thrilled to be joined by two incredible speakers for our last event of 2020. As always, we'll be allocating time for good discussion and Q&A with speakers after each talk. BYO pizza and beverage!
Speaker #1: Gibson Biddle, former VP/CPO at both Netflix and Chegg
Topic: Chegg: Wicked Hard Decisions
This online talk focuses on a series of tough decisions Chegg, the textbook rental and homework help startup, made to quickly scale from startup to a public company that today has a market cap of $10B. This talk focuses on ten habits of making tough decisions about people, products, and businesses.
About the speaker: Gibson Biddle joined Netflix as VP of Product in 2005. In 2010 he became the Chief Product Officer of his next startup, Chegg, a textbook rental and homework help company that went public in 2013. Today he’s an adviser, speaker, and guest lecturer at both Stanford and INSEAD.
Speaker #2: Kevin Devine, Senior Product Designer @ Nearform
Topic: The COVID Tracker project - Delivering a COVID response app for Ireland
On a sunny Sunday in March, during lockdown, a slack message asked if we could help out on a project for the Irish Health Service. What followed was an intense 100-day journey delivering Ireland’s COVID response and Contact Tracing app. Since launch, the app has gone on to be downloaded over a million times and is a key tool in the fight against the pandemic on these shores and beyond. This talk will look at the journey and challenges of the COVID Tracker project.
About the speaker: Kevin is a senior product designer at NearForm who worked on the design and user experience of the COVID Tracker Ireland app. Working with NearForm, the HSE and external parties, Kevin helped lead the design initiative, from sketches, wireframes to UI and QA, making sure stakeholders, testing and development had everything they needed to execute and deliver the app.
Over the past 15 years, Kevin has worked with some of Ireland’s leading international companies, including leading the design of Ryanair’s first native mobile applications for iOS and Android. He now works at NearForm with remote colleagues throughout the world delivering world-class products for global clients.
