Product Management Practices in USA

Our latest addition to ProductTank Sofia is Alex Marinov, who has over 15 years in product and project management roles, mainly in consumer and enterprise web and mobile applications in USA. He recently moved to Sofia from San Francisco and agreed to share his experience in doing product management in the USA.

The Talk
As PMs we wear different hats and contribute with different skills to design, build and ship products - planning, coordination, design, data analysis, resource allocation, financial forecasting, project scoping and general management.

The purpose of the talk is to share experience of working at different US outfits in SF and Seattle over the last 10 years. The idea is to discuss how the PM role can change depending on the size of the team, the goals of the business and current priorities at the group and product level. We'll also discuss what PM skills can come into play, depending on the environment and how they can shift to best serve the organization, the team and the customer.

In San Francisco he spent a few years in the digital marketing agency world with Solutionset, working with Fortune 500 brands (Google, AMEX, YouTube, JCPenny) and was part of the product team at Glassdoor. Prior to that he held various roles at Microsoft, T-Mobile and AT&T Wireless in Seattle.
