We’re bringing ProductTank back to Sheffield…

After a hiatus of over a year, the next Steel City instalment of ProductTank Yorkshire will be taking place on Thursday 12th September, between 6:30pm and 8:45pm at Kollider in Castle House.

Why should you come along?

As organisers, Aden Davies (Product Manager at Qualsys), Tom Holdsworth (Product Manager at Sky Betting & Gaming) and Rob Amour (Ultramontane Consulting, supporting Sky Betting & Gaming) firmly believe there is an untapped community of ‘product people’ across South Yorkshire, who would relish the opportunity to meet like-minded counterparts, collaborate and share best practice.

Why will this event be any different?

Firstly, we don’t want to restrict it to people who have the word “product” in their job title. Granted, that might be a start, but we appreciate that there are plenty of people, in other roles across the city, who either work closely with product managers, would like to pursue it as a career, or simply possess a curiosity about what we do.

Secondly, we don’t want to restrict the event to people who work in technology-based companies. While we recognise a lot of product roles are in this area at the moment, we believe there are plenty of reciprocal learnings to take from people who do similar jobs in other industries.

But what is ‘product’?

This is the million-dollar question that we are going to attempt to answer in the first meetup after bringing ProductTank Sheffield back to life. As a way of breaking the ice with a lot (we hope!) of people who share common ground, and as a way of making people feel that the idea of ‘product’ does resonate with their day-to-day, this will be the theme of our talks, and discussion, at the event in September.

On that note, we have the following timings for the evening:

6:00 – 6:30pm: Welcome and networking
6:30 – 8:30pm: Talks from Naomi Turner (Ministry of Justice) and Daniel Merriman (Raspberry Pi Foundation), along with a section on feedback/ideas for future events
8:30 – 8:45pm: Wrap-up and continued networking

Food and drink will also be provided during a break.
