In Celebration of the Milwaukee River Greenway 15th Anniversary, Friends of Lincoln Park and Nearby Nature Milwaukee invite you to paddle with us to celebrate urban wilderness and 15 years of building Milwaukee's Central Park. Following the paddle you are invited to stay for the Ko-Thi Dancers and Shakespeare in the Park
Ko-Thi: 3 pm African Dance class for all ages - Near the Children's play area at Green Bay and Hampton
Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night's Dream, 5 pm Just north of the Blatz Pavilion

On the paddle, we will explore the beautiful and wild East Oxbow of Lincoln Park with its cattails, waterfowl and a beaver lodge. Explore a 50 acre pond with 3 channels and 4 islands on the Milwaukee River. The route is appropriate for canoes or kayaks. We plan to put in and take out at the same landing, not shuttling.

Most stretches of water are fairly calm and appropriate for novice paddlers, most of the time. Some areas are only accessible by upstream paddling that may require a higher level of paddle skills. We will accommodate all levels of paddlers but some previous paddling experience is recommended.

High or low water may affect the route or force cancellation if high/fast water makes the route unsafe. Check the weather and watch for updates or changes to this meetup closer to the paddle date.

Kayak loan is available to members of the Urban Ecology Center (http://urbanecologycenter.org/what-we-do/canoeing-and-kayaking.html ) (Worth the cost of membership - requires an orientation class)

Keep a change of dry clothes in your car and always wear a PFD. A PFD is required by state law.

Sorry, no Kayak Rentals. Check in the "Discussion area below about possible loaner boats
