Click here to join our YouTube Channel "Sounds American" for videos to help you improve your pronunciation This is a great community education class I teach for Portland Community College (PCC). I only teach this class once a term. The class is from 6:00 -8:50 PM on a Wednesday evening and held at the Willow Creek campus in Beaverton, Oregon. This class focuses on correct pronunciation of the vowel sounds of American English. You will learn how to pronounce vowels used in American English through tongue movement, lip placement, and mouth opening; how to make stressed and weak vowel sounds; and how to "hear" all the vowel sounds, and the rule for why vowels need to be "longer and shorter". By the end of the class you will have a much better ability to both hear and pronounce the vowel sounds that we use when speaking English! The address of the class is 241 SW Edgeway Drive (SW 185th and Baseline), Beaverton, Oregon. If you take the MAX it will drop you off in front of the building. The cost of the class is $39. What we're about

Speech Language Pathology Portland Oregon Accent Modification and Accent Reduction

Welcome to Accent Modification and Accent Reduction in Portland!

Our Group
Welcome to our group! Accent Reduction Portland is a 100% free-to-join social and educational group started by 2011 by a nationally certified speech language pathologist specializing in accent modification and communication training.

Our Group Members
Our members are persons from throughout the world who speak English as a non-native language. Members are professionals or students who have an adequate use of the English language but would like to improve how they communicate using American English. We are a fun and welcoming group that likes to have a good time while learning how to speak more effectively and with confidence!

Our Events
We have events every month. Most of our events are free or at minimal cost. One of our most popular events is a monthly seminar. At this event we socialize before participating in an hour long training in areas such as American English pronunciation (vowel and consonant sounds), rules for conversational pronunciation, speech rate, speech volume, non-verbal language, presentation skills, and interview skills. The content of the free seminars is exactly the same that is provided in accent reduction training courses for companies, classes, individual students, and universities – only it is free to group members.
