Is there any great novel that goes more unfinished than Proust's IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME? Many have scaled SWANN'S WAY and maybe even one or two volumes beyond that, but no matter how many essays you read about how Proust can change your life, the journey to TIME REGAINED is a solitary and perhaps futile one, until now. PROUST & PINTS is tackling all seven volumes, leisurely in small manageable chunks every month-- Bible-study-style but with beer. Each month, we will get together to discuss our epiphanies, difficulties, and provocations of this most ambitious novel, in Proustian fashion, over a drink at one of our many Twin City's breweries.
**For the purposes of PROUST & PINTS, we will be reading the original ENGLISH TRANSLATION by C.K. Scott Moncrieff. We welcome attendance and commentary from those familiar with the more recent Penguin translation or the original French, of course, but for group purpose's, Moncrieff is the thing!**
For our March meeting, we jump into the third novel of Proust's "In Search of Lost Time." The plan is to read through Chapter 1 of the novel translated as “The Guermantes Way.” New members are always welcome. Keeping up with the reading is not required.
