* Want to make friends across the aisle?

Come exploring with us at our next meeting of The Provocateurs. We meet every 2nd an 4th Friday of the month. We have no trouble being provocative — our only rule is that we give everyone a chance to talk and hear them with respect. Come to learn — and to give us a piece of your mind.

ACHIEVING RACIAL AND ECONOMIC EQUITY IN KC

Online event

This is a great opportunity to bring your questions to someone who has been thinking and working hard to make a difference on these issues. Is a colorblind approach racist or not? Black Lives Matter: Why are some leaders saying they affirm the sentence, not the movement? Tonight Marcus Winn, Kansas Organizer of the Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equity (MORE2) will be giving us a presentation and leading a discussion on where we’ve been, what’s being done today, and what we need to do in the future to achieve racial and economic equity in the Kansas City metro region. (RSVP on this page.) Should we defund the police? Let social workers take over some of the emergencies? What difference might the George Floyd and recent Black Lives Matter protests make in the Kansas City area? Why did MORE2 recently demand the firing of the Kansas City, KS police chief and an independent hotline to report police misbehavior, and what was the result? What do we hear when we listen to the “asks” coming from African Americans (and other people of color) who have suddenly become “unmuted”? Let’s hear your thoughts, and let’s discuss all the different ways we can respond. Looking forward to seeing you Friday night, via Zoom!
