Whew! The mid-terms are just behind us. Let's have a conversation about the election results! How are you feeling about the potential direction of policies that may directly impact you and your family? What is your role as a citizen advocate before the next general election? Our goal is to listen and learn with and from one another!
Sandy Snook, MSW, has convened human service professionals, social work students and Community Health Worker students for over 30 years. She taught social policy for over 10 years at the college level and has delivered a presentation at P&P about the difference between policy and politics. Sandy's experience as a community facilitator, social policy instructor, and health advocate will facilitate our discussion.

The Value of the Humanities

This presentation traces the humanities' value from schools and career outcomes to AI's growing role, asking how technology reshapes writing, language learning, and meaning-making. It closes on a call for holistic, global humanities and genuine human connection, challenging listeners to define what remains uniquely human in an AI-augmented world.
Jeremy Slagoski is a native Wisconsinite who currently works at UMKC. Although he was, up until this September, the Assistant Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, he still advocates for the humanities, especially in relation to humanism and education. He lives in Shawnee with his wife, child who turned 18 this year, and 2 cats. In his spare time, he loves listening to music, reading science fiction, and traveling. And lastly, you can call him whatever you like, but don't call him late for dinner.
