NEW MEMBER REQUESTS: Due to a recent surge of new member requests, we have formed a selection committee to help review them all in a timely manner. We apologize for any delays as we reach out to each individual applying for membership to conduct our screening process. Initial requests ask a screening question regarding your background, hobbies, profession, experience and/or interest in psychedelics. We also require members to have a visible profile picture to help us identify each other at our meetings. Providing answers to each of these requests will make the approval process much more efficient. If not enough information is provided, members of our leadership team will reach out to you for a request for more information. For new or current members wishing to maintain some form of anonymity on the Meetup platform within our private group, alternative options are available for membership approval and should be discussed honestly with our leadership team during the screening process.
In the meantime, check out our public website for a wealth of information and resources for those wanting to get involved in the psychedelic renaissance!
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This group is being designed as a secure space. It is not a place to seek, encourage, or participate in the procurement of controlled substances. Do not bring, buy, sell, transfer, or arrive on any illegal substances, or swap information on how to buy them. Do not come to meetings to ask members where or how to find any illegal substances. Members who violate these basic house rules will be removed from the group and will not be allowed to attend future events.
About: The Psychedelic Society of Minneapolis is a community-based organization dedicated to the legal regulation of psychedelics, entheogens, entactogens, and cannabis for therapeutic and spiritual uses. We are a local chapter of a larger international organization aimed at building community around psychedelics. We provide educational content about the responsible use of psychedelics, MDMA and cannabis, and advocate for continued scientific research into their mechanisms to promote evidence-based drug policy reform and harm reduction for the public. We host speaker series, film screenings, networking events, and discussion circles to provide education and outreach for those who want to learn more about psychedelics.
Membership guidelines: We ask that members, both new and current, conduct themselves according these qualities: sincerity, openness/willingness, interest, experience/use, discretion, and positivity when engaging with other members and representing the psychedelic society. This refers to interactions during the approval process as well as conduct/behavior during our gatherings. We also require all members to have a profile picture to promote transparency and trust in the group. You can create custom photos for each group you are in so only those approved in this group will be able to see your photo. If this is a big problem due to your job or other privacy concerns, you can send a photo to one of the group organizers that we can associate with your profile and membership in the group.
Additions to these guidelines include confidentiality about the content of what is discussed and shared in this group. No one should be discussing what other people are doing, have done, plan to do without the explicit consent of everyone involved. We stress these policies at our discussion circles but haven’t yet put them into our official membership guidelines, until now. This is especially prudent for new members who are unclear about our policies and purpose. Ignorance of these policies due to a lack of engagement with leadership or attendance at member meetings will no longer be an excuse for breaking these policies. They have been reiterated during screening, upon approval, and at our gatherings and through multiple reminders. To protect the safety and confidentiality of our members, leadership will start to enforce these policies should anyone be in violation of them. Breaches of confidentiality are relevant not just to people you talk to outside of this private community, but also within the private community. Additionally, if you find access to something illegal, either yourself or hearing about it from someone else, DO NOT SHARE THAT INFORMATION. This includes underground therapists, street drug dealers, or anything that is explicitly illegal. Cannabis, MDMA, psilocybin, LSD, DMT, etc... these are all schedule 1 drugs and engagement with these compounds in any capacity outside an FDA/DEA approved clinical trial is ILLEGAL and sharing information about the procurement or facilitation of experiences is strictly prohibited within our community.
