Haven’t written in so long that you have forgotten the feeling of completeness it brings? Just want to sit in silence and write? Our Thursday Writing session may help in all of the above. What we do is, in the simplest of terms, that we sit and write. There’ll be prompts if you want a bit of a kickstart. You can write based on that or something that you’ve been working on. Any language, any genre, Fiction/Non-fiction, Prose/Poetry, anything and everything goes. We just want you to write. Working on a book? That’s fantastic. If we are to give the gentle push that slowly culminates into your book, we’d be more than happy to do so. There’ll be a feedback round at the end of each writing session and if you want to, you can read out loud your material and see if and how it works. If you don’t want to, that’s fine too. So join us every Thursday 12.00 pm via Zoom, to begin your writing journey and grow it from there.

Once Upon a Time : Reading the World's Great Short Stories, with Shankar Mony

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: This is our same old Monthly Short Story Reading Session. Only that, instead of an in-person meet up, it will be now held on Zoom. Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4476361309?pwd=UlVmVk5iNmZ5MitiT0hkZzRFSjEwQT09 Meeting ID:[masked] Password: 2KPUZh ---------------------------------------- "A short story must have a single mood and every sentence must build towards it." ~ Edgar Allan Poe The short story has been a thriving form and robust, despite unwarranted reports of its demise at various times. The form itself has constantly changed, always reflecting the times it came out of, not dissimilar to the novel. From the great short story writers – Guy de Maupassant, Anton Chekhov, Henry James, O’Henry and Saki – we moved to the more modern writers who brought a change in the middle of the twentieth century – Flannery O’Connor and Raymond Carver were at the forefront of this. About the Host : Shankar is an aspiring writer, living in Pune for the past three years. He has been a lifelong reader and was bitten by the writing bug after reading books by Tobias Wolff and William Trevor. While he loves novels, especially by the Russians, he always has a particular fondness for short stories.
