What we’re about
This is the Codebeez Python Meetup Group.
The goal for this group is to share Python knowledge with each other. To get to know each other, eat, drink and Bee nice to each other.
The subjects can be anything regarding Python. What would you like to learn more about?
See you soon!

Spreading the Love for Python through LEGO Robotics - Anton Vanhoucke, Founder & LEGO Robot Designer, https://antonsmindstorms.com
How do we take a love for Python and bring it to the world of Internet of Things (IoT) platforms? What is the role of the Zen of Python and its guiding principles in the world of robotics? What are MicroPython, CircuitPython, and Pybricks, and how can they be used to bring LEGO robots to life?
During this talk we will encounter three case studies and hear about the learnings that each of them provided. First is the challenge of connecting Gamepads to robotic creations, the hardware limitations, and the role that Python played to create easy controls for complex machines. Then we learn about Augmented Reality Racing as applied to LEGO robots, the challenges of synchronising virtual and physical worlds, and how Python simplified the problem. Finally, an artistic endeavour of converting photos into art with a vertical plotter, and the Python libraries (and code) to accomplish this.
Anyone interested in these topics is invited to attend, learn, and perhaps contribute to the documentation of these Python projects. Python developers can in this way help to get young people to embrace Python in a way that connects with their experience. What the data!? Welcome to the data jungle - Thijs Koot, Data Engineer at DataWorkz
Now that everyone has big data, the next challenge is navigating that landscape. The world of data catalogs and data lineage has evolved rapidly these past few years.
Expensive enterprise solutions, historically the only options, have been complemented by a range of open source solutions.
Extracting lineage by parsing pipelines and crawling data lakes is starting to be replaced by open specifications and bottom-up telemetry.
But how to navigate this landscape? Which solution do we deploy, what specification do we implement?
What features are available and how should you prioritize them? Between OpenLineage, OpenMetadata and OpenDataDiscovery, which specification will thrive?
We will investigate the history of data discovery, discuss its current state and try to predict future developments.
Whether you are deciding which solution to use or just want to be informed about the state of the landscape, together we will navigate the jungle of data discovery.for questions and remarks please contact pepijn@codebeez.nl
