PyBelfast: Summer Meetup!

Details

When πŸ••

Kicking off summer with another Python meetup, we will be returning on Tuesday, the 14th of June. Food will arrive at 6.15-6.30 and talks will start a short time after.

Where πŸ“

This meetup will take place in Belfast within the Slice office space located in the city centre.

The Slices office is located beside City Picnic/Primark - the entrance to the building has large glass doors leading to an elevator. If you have any issues finding the building, feel free to reach out via meetup to the organisers or via Twitter/slack.

Call for Speakers πŸ“’

As always, we welcome returning and new speakers to come to give a talk of any duration (5 minutes to 30) on any Python-related subject. If you would like to give a talk at this meetup or the next - feel free to reach out.

Refreshments πŸ•

Food and drinks will be provided.

We aim to provide an option for everyone so we will always aim to have soft drinks/water, gluten-free, and veggie options available. However, to reduce waste we base our order on the number of people that request these options. If you have a dietary requirement, please let us know and we will try out best to help.

Talks πŸ’¬

Scream if you wanna go Fast(API)er
by Simon Hewitt (@tyndyll)

An introduction to FastAPI, a modern, high-performance web framework for building APIs with Python 3.6+ based on standard Python type hints.

Driving devops adoption in your organisation
by Dan Murphy (@d_murph21)

Dan is back following his previous talk on "SRE and the rise of the Platform Engineer" to discuss how you can drive the adoption of a DevOps culture in your organisation.

Optimise like a scientist
by Liam Brannigan (@braaannigan)

Discussing the big changes happening in the python data science world!

New creative worlds with Python
by Luke Lucas (@tekodot)

When the seriousness of a programming language is determined not by the speed at which the lexical analysis and parsing occur to compile or interpret but by the change we can effect in the world as efficiently as possible, the questions of algorithms become less about the efficiency we can perform steps at, and more about how to fuel our own passion about visions we had of faraway times and lands.
