Es hora de decir bye-bye. Using python for sociolinguistic analysis. by Lusy.
Abstract:
This talk is about the collection and explanation of the English occurrences in a corpus of articles from the US Spanish language journal "Siempre mujer". We will walk through the workflow from collecting the articles, identifying the English occurrences and trying to classify and explain them. We will have a look at the python modules for scraping and natural language processing used for the project (pattern, request and nltk), try to evaluate their suitability for the task and discuss alternative approaches. As an added bonus we'll also briefly touch on some theories from the sociolinguistics in an attempt to understand why English was used in the particular cases.

"using plotly dash in production" by Volodymyr (Vlad) Kazantsev
Abstract:
I will talk about my experience building data products in python ecosystem. Few years back, I was building Flask apps to enable business to interact with "data science". There were a lot of "html-forms" coding and lot more javascript than I was willing to handle. Over the last few years, frameworks for productionalisation Python Data Science and Javascript has evolved dramatically. First we had great bokeh server, than Jupyter dashboards and more recently, Plotly dash. I will share my experience with the latest addition to technology stack and make some comparisons with alternatives.
Speaker Bio:
Vlad has degree in Probability Theories from Kiev National University and MBA from London Business School. He has contributed to winning three oscars for visual effects (Avatar, etc.), before switching to Data Science. He was leading a data science team at Product Madness in London since 2013, before moving to Berlin in April this year.
